Our Departments- A Brief Overview
Botany
The department of Botany is headed by Dr S P Mohapatra. The other faculty members are Dr B Mohapatra and Dr Mrs K P Sahoo.
The faculty members have published several research papers in national and international journals.Dr B Mohapatra has written some text books for students.
The department has organised a seminar recently. One of the Professors of Ranchi University had attended the seminar as the Resource Person.
Welcome Message
The Department of Botany is an ideal place for students interest in Biological sciences to learn and acquire skill in different aspects of Plant sciences. Since its inception in 1970 well recognized by UGC it caters the need of Undergraduate students. Students from all over the state came here to gather both theoretical and practical knoweledge in basic science as well as applied aspects of present day Plant sciences.
The faculties of the department are well versed with the recent advances in various courses like Biotechnology, Plant breeding, Stress biology and many others. They are also actively involved in research work in addition to their classroom teaching.
The BSc. Degree from the Department of Botany is an excellent preparation for Graduate programmes in a variety of fields which should enable graduates to pursue many rewarding career interests. Indeed there are many options including National and International opportunities in teaching, research, industry and Bio-business in both Government and Private sectors.
The department is going to open MSc courses in Plant sciences very shortly along with other technique based programmes like Crop physiology, Horticulture, Vermiculture etc.

Chemistry
Chemistry is the branch of science that studies the composition, properties and interaction of matter. Chemistry plays a dominant role in science and is often intertwined with other branches of science like Physics, Biology, Geology etc.

The department of Chemistry is headed by Dr S C Moharana. Dr K C Jena is the Assistant Professor. Dr S C Moharana has established himself as a distinguished writer and academician.
The students of the department shine well and the success rate is very high.

Commerce
The department of Commerce is headed by Dr Brindaban Sahu.He is assisted by three Guest Lecturers as the vacant posts have not yet been filled up.
The pass percentage of students is satisfactory.
Commerce is the sum total of all those processes, which are engaged in the removal of hindrance of persons(trade),place(transport Insurance)and time(warehousing)in the exchange(banking)of commodities.
Economics
The department of Economics started functioning in 1946.Prof. D N Bhoi,Associate Professor is the head of the department now.Dr B Panda is the Assitant Professor in the department.Most of the students of Economics fare well in examinations.

The department of English came into existence in 1946.Currently,the department is headed by Sri A K Samal.Sri S K Sethy,Dr Saraswati Panda and Dr P K Behera are the other faculty members.Dr P K Behera has written a book namely Linguistic Features in Chinua Achebe’s Arrow of God.Sri S K Sethy has won YRC Governor’s award.Dr Saraswati Panda has won Shree award and Navratna prize.
The performance of English Honours students in examinations is satisfactory.Almost in every academic year more than 90% students succeed in examinations.

History
The department of History came into being in 1946.Apart from UG courses,the department also provides PG in History.Prof. F M Mallick is the HOD. As he is the Principal now,Prof. S K Dash,Associate Professor is in charge of the department as head.Sri S C Sahu is the Assitant Professor.
The PG department was established in1982. The students of both UG and PG do well in examinations.
Mathematics
The department of Mathematics provides education at UG and PG levels.Prof. P K Mohapatra is the HOD. The pass percentage of students is very high.

Odia
The department of Odia started with the foundation of the college in 1946.Currently, the department is headed by Prof. Debasis Lenka.
The department attracts a large number of students and the pass percentage is satisfactory.
Physics
The department of Physics came into existence in 1946.Currently, the department is headed by Dr G P Sahu. The other faculty members are Dr Amrita Pritam Mishra and Dr Sumati Pati.
The faculty members have several published research papers to their credit. The students have recently organised a science exhibition.

Philosophy
The department of Logic and Philosophy came into being in 1946.At present, Prof. B K Parhi is the head of the department.More than 90% students succeed in examinations..
Physical Education
Physical Education programs help students succeed in life. The teaching profession plays a fundamental role in educating children. Some of which include physical activity Teachers engage in many roles in student’s learning, some of which are more challenging and important than others and all which contribute to a child’s development.
Political Science
The department of Pol. Science started in the year 1946.Prof. N Sahu is the HOD now. The other faculty member is Dr. Anita Kumari Behuria. The success rate of students comes closer to 85%.
Sanskrit
The department of Sanskrit started in 1946. Dr M Nayak is the HOD.The other faculty member is Dr Sarojini Jena.
Most of the students of Sanskrit get through with first divisions. Almost every year the success rate is 100%.

Sociology
The department of Sociology came into being in 1946.Prof. S Mahar is the HOD now. Most of the students of Sociology Hons. succeed with first divisions.

Self Financing Courses {BCA,M.Sc. (Computer Science), BBA, MSW}
Brief History:
1.Govt.guideline:
The Govt Of Odisha has accorded permission to open BBA and BCA as bachelor degree self financing courses from the session 2013-14. Later MSW and MSc (computer science)have been included as master degree self financing courses.

BACHELOR DEGREE COURSES:
BBA(Bachelor in Business Administration):48 seats
BCA(Bachelor in Computer Application): 48 seats
Eligibility for admission:
The candidates seeking admission to the courses must have possessed the following academic qualification.
+2 science ,Arts,Commerce or equivalent degree accepted by the Principal,N.C(Auto)College,Jajpur.
MASTER DEGREE COURSES
MSc in Computer Science:48 seats
Eligibility(MSc in Computer science):
Any Graduate with Mathematics in +2
MSW(Master of Social Works): 48 seats
Eligibility(MSW):
Any Graduate with 45% pass mark.

6. Success History:
Placement is an integral part of our courses. In the past 2 years several students have been placed in the leading companies of India.
General Rules :
1.Undertaking :
Before a student is admitted to the college he/she or his/her guardian, if he/she is a major, has to sign an undertaking in proper form to abide by the rules of the college.
2.Address :
Each student must register in the college office the address where he or she lives. He or she must also inform the office at once in case of any subsequent change of address.
3.Bicycle Shed :
Students are advised to keep their bicycles with the provision of double lock in the cycle shed and obtain the token from the watchman.
In case the token is lost the cycle can not be taken out of the cycle shed until he/she has paid the fine for the loss of the token and submitted an under taking to the satisfaction of the authority that the cycle belongs to him/her.
4.Leave:
Students, who wish to obtain leave of absence from the college, must apply for it before they actually absent themselves. In special cases such as illness, where it is not possible to obtain leave in advance, an application for grant of leave should be sent by post or submitted immediately upon return to college if the period of absence is short.
5.Fees :
Fees are received only on the date and time fixed for the collection.

6.Private, Club, Society/Team :
Students of the college are forbidden to belong to any outside club or society without the prior permission of the Principal. Such permission is to be sought in writing. The request for such permission is to be duly signed by the student’s father or natural guardian. To play for a team other than the college team, without written permission of the Principal is also forbidden.
7.Permission to Accompany the College Team :
When a match is to be played away from Jajpur, members of the team and students who wish to accompany the team, must obtain prior leave of absence from the Principal. Those who are residents of the hostel must also obtain the permission from the Superintendent of the hostel.
8.Discipline :
(i)The students are advised to bring with them their identity cards to the college. It is essential to distinguish them from outsiders who are liable to be asked to vacate.
(ii)Spitting on the walls, floor, pillars or doors of the college, disfiguring the walls and creating noise in the college and hostel premises are strictly prohibited.
(iii)Students are forbidden to loiter in the corridors. When they have no classes to attend, they may go to the college common room or to Hostel Common Room if boarders.
(iv)Students are warned against tampering with the electric fittings of the college. Severe punishment will be inflicted on a student who indulges in such act.
(v)Misbehavior of college students in football or hockey or other matches will be seriously viewed.
(vi)Students are advised not to take active part in party politics.
(vii)No club or society should be started or maintained in the college without the approval of the Principal.
(viii)Continued absence without leave for one or more days on the part of students is a serious breach of college discipline. In such cases on or before the third day of such absence the name of the absentee will be struck off the college rolls. However, the Principal may at his discretion excuse a student.
Article 106 (iii) Orissa Education Code.
9.Identity Cards :
Students shall be in possession of the Identity Cards issued by the college. They have to produce the same on demand by authorities. Duplicate identity card can be issued on payment as per guidelines.
10.Issue of C.L.C. and Certificate :
(i)C.L.C., T.C. and Mark Sheet shall be issued to students three days after the submission of application accompanied by a clearance certificate.
(ii)University Certificate shall be issued on every Saturday only if it is a working day.
(iii)In exigencies, Principlas Decision is final.
11. Notices :
(iv)Every student should see the notice board kept at different points in the college to obtain necessary information.
(v)No student should remove any notice from the notice board.
12.Students’ Enquiry & Information :
Three is a students enquiry and information bureau to provide information to the students and public on matters of students interest.
13.Proctorial System :
Proctorial system has been introduced in the college since the 1970-71. Its main objective is to develop close personal contact between students and teachers with a view to providing guidance and help to students for the improvement of their academic standards as well as for removal of personal difficulties as far as possible.
Under the proctorial scheme each proctor is assigned a group of students on faculty basis and he conducts proctorial meetings at least once a month, where the students get an opportunity to express their difficulties regarding their study and matters connected with it. The recommendation of the proctor is necessary for award of financial aid and for consideration of results in college examinations. Applications of students unless routed through the proctor are liable to rejection.
Guardians of the students are expected to meet the principal and proctor and enquire about the welfare and progress of their ward. Progress report and reports regarding undesirable activities on the part of the students are sent to the guardians from time to time for information and active co-operation.
